I love film. It’s a wonderful opportunity to share a piece of our selves and offer unique perspectives of the world in which we live. I believe its also one of the most powerful mediums in our culture. Films have inspired entire movements, changed policy and helped to cultivate more compassion and understanding in the real world. As a filmmaker, I hope to inspire, move people, challenge the status quo, and reveal more ways that we are similar than different through the stories and projects that I help create.

OPEN at The Denizen: Short Promotional Doc

Director/Producer

In 2018 ODA architects launched a nonprofit called OPEN that gave local artists and organizations the resources they needed to develop projects that unite, engage, and empower residents of diverse backgrounds. One of the most significant initiatives so far was at the Denizen development in Bushwick where three community artists created socially conscious murals that celebrated and reflected the community most impacted by the recent change in the area. This short film documents the initiative and the artists as they use art as a tool to empower and connect.

The Bushwick Diaries: Documentary Feature Film

Director/ Producer/Writer

The Bushwick Diaries is an intimate look into the lives, beliefs, and stories of people, from different walks of life, who call this neighborhood home. It is an insider’s perspective of one of New York’s most vibrant and culturally rich communities in the midst of rapid change. I not only wanted listen to and share the story of the neighborhood and it’s residents; I also wanted to authentically represent and lovingly capture the magic of the neighborhood and the people whom I encountered from all walks of life, including those that were often overlooked or marginalized. I'm so grateful to have the opportunity to work with a stellar crew and listen to many wonderful stories in the process. As a first-time female director who values people, community, and arts, I regard this breakout film as a love story about Bushwick written by multiple authors, including myself. I hope these stories are a testament to all the things we have in common as human beings and positively impacts the way culture, community and change is perceived.

I Am Not Your Negro Community Screening and Review: Short Doc

Director/Producer

I had the opportunity to cover a community screening of the Oscar nominated documentary, I Am Not Your Negro, at Harlem Renaissance High School. Director Raoul Peck was in attendance for a Q&A, and we were there to capture his message about the film and its relevance in today's world. I Am Not Your Negro is a 2016 documentary film directed by Raoul Peck, based on James Baldwin's unfinished manuscript, Remember This House. Narrated by actor Samuel L. Jackson, the film explores the history of racism in the United States through Baldwin's reminiscences of civil rights leaders Medgar Evers, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King, Jr, as well as his personal observations of American history.[3] It was nominated for Best Documentary Feature at the 89th Academy Awards and won the BAFTA Award for Best Documentary.

Disconsolate: Experimental Dance Short Film

Producer

BALLET DEVIARE presents DISCONSOLATE, a nine minute experimental dance film directed by ADAM WALTNER. DISCONSOLATE is a powerful, soul-entrancing depiction which illustrates the depths of human suffering. Set to "Waldlander im Herbst" from the Funeral Doom phenomenon CELESTIIAL (Tanner Anderson), the piece evokes a feeling and mood that is as hypnotic as it is effecting.
